If you've found your way here, welcome. I'm genuinely glad you're here.

I'm Jessi, the herbalist, educator, coach, perpetual researcher, and slightly obsessive plant nerd behind The Alchemist Lady. My days are spent somewhere between stacks of research papers, jars of dried herbs, essential oil bottles, homeschooling my kids, and trying to convince people that herbalism doesn't have to live in the space between folklore and fear.
I believe herbs deserve both respect and curiosity.
That means honoring the traditional wisdom that has carried these plants through generations while also asking, What does the research actually say? You'll rarely find me making outrageous claims or promising miracle cures. Instead, you'll find evidence, history, practical applications, and honest conversations about where herbal medicine shines—and where modern medicine absolutely belongs.
Because both have a place.
The same philosophy guides everything I create, whether it's a handcrafted glycerite, an aromatherapy blend, a coaching session, or one of the many educational resources you'll find here.
This blog exists because I love teaching just as much as I love making products. My goal isn't simply to sell you something—it's to help you understand why an herb is used, how it has been traditionally prepared, what current research suggests, and when it may or may not be appropriate to use. I want you to feel confident walking into the world of herbalism with knowledge instead of overwhelm.
To make exploring easier, everything is organized into a handful of categories.
Herbalism

This is where we'll dive deep into herbal preparations, traditional practices, research, growing herbs, medicine making, and the art of working with plants in everyday life.
Aromatherapy
Essential oils are incredible tools when they're used safely and intentionally. Here you'll find blending ideas, dilution guidelines, safety information, aromatic traditions, and practical ways to incorporate aromatherapy into your daily routines without the misinformation that often circulates online.
Spirituality
Plants have always been woven into ritual, symbolism, and personal transformation. This space explores intentional living, seasonal practices, mindfulness, folklore, and the quieter side of working with nature. Whether you're deeply spiritual or simply enjoy slowing down enough to notice the world around you, you'll find something here.
Coaching
Life gets messy. Sometimes we need someone to help untangle the knots.
Here I'll share practical tools for personal growth, habit building, nervous system support, life management, boundaries, self-reflection, and creating a life that feels aligned with who you actually are—not who everyone else expects you to be.
Herb Fact Sheets
(This might end up being my favorite section.)

Each herb fact sheet is designed to become your go-to reference for that plant. You'll learn its history, traditional uses, active constituents, safety considerations, preparation methods, and what current research tells us.
Many of these herbs are featured in my own formulations, so these fact sheets allow you to get to know the plants behind the label. Instead of simply reading an ingredient list, you'll understand the purpose each herb serves and why it earned its place in the bottle.
Whether you're here because you purchased one of my products, you're just beginning your herbal journey, or you've been studying plants for years, I hope this blog becomes a place you return to often.
I encourage you to ask questions. Stay curious. Challenge assumptions. Learn something new.
The plants have been teaching us for thousands of years. I'm just here to help translate.
With love,

I can’t recommend The Alchemist Lady highly enough. Jessi has created something that is surprisingly rare in the herbal world: a space where traditional herbal wisdom and modern scientific research are treated as partners rather than competitors.
What immediately stood out to me was her commitment to education over hype. She doesn’t rely on fear, miracle claims, or trendy misinformation. Instead, she explains the history, traditional uses, current research, safety considerations, and practical applications of herbs in a way that is approachable, honest, and empowering. You leave feeling informed rather than sold to.
Her knowledge will flow through this Journal covering herbalism, aromatherapy, spirituality, coaching, and detailed herb fact sheets that make it easy to understand not just what an…
